Our cattle live a natural, organic life on Flinders Island, Tasmania. They enjoy shelter, are well fed all year round, and live a life with as little stress as absolutely possible.
Our small herd is Angus and Angus X Murray Grey.
Our cow herd is made up of 50 Angus and Angus/Murray Grey breeders. Our bulls are bred by Mark and Mandy Wales, from Alloura Stud. We enjoy exceptional calving ease and the calves grow quick and strong. We sell our calves at weaning time, (6-7 months old) or at 12 months old, depending on the season. Our cattle are very quiet and are nice additions to any herd for pets, breeding or meat. Please contact Nigel Brown from Elders if you are interested in purchasing. Please be aware that all cattle sold off-island must journey to the mainland by boat. Cattle are best purchased by the penful.
Our Commitment to Ethical Farming
We prioritise the health and welfare of our cattle. We feed them seaweed meal, molasses and garlic for good gut and physical health. We drench very minimally and only if necessary. We do not vaccinate at all. We adhere to our industry standard accreditations and our business is accredited for the Greenhams Never Ever program, Meat Standards Australia and Livestock Production Assurance.
Sustainable Practices
We implement rotational grazing techniques to maintain soil health and biodiversity. It is very important to us that our cattle have fresh pastures all year round and are supplemented hay over the winter.
Our cattle live a great life!
We love our cattle; they are a big part of our family! We raise them with respect, and with as low interference as possible. We use very low stress stock handling techniques and are very quiet as a result. Our cows, calves and bulls live the most organic life as possible!
